Feel like you need another step while playing pickleball or tennis? Looking for a little more power in your tennis or racket ball strokes? Does waking up mean aching all over after playing your favorite racket or paddle sport? Coach Dave Cousins will take you through a new style of workout that combines footwork drills for agility and increased speed, yoga positions for balance and core strength, and light strength training for more power. This program incorporates “T’ai Chi Moving for Better Balance”, an 8 posture standing form, with elements of Musical T’ai Chi which uses periods of seated movement; both practices will be integrated by learning the Great Breathing technique from Shaolin & Chinese Medicine. The musical background will be calming, peaceful and yet invigorating as the play element in T’ai Chi will be emphasized. Instructor, Michael Elliott is a 49 year practitioner.Friday T'ai Chi is a reoccurring weekly program each month.Tuesdays T'ai Chi is held two Tuesdays a month offered on the dates of Senior Activity Day. This means FREE transportation for South Portland senior residents is available. Please register the Thursday prior to class if you require pick up. Does your child love reading books and making art? Then join us for preschool storytime and crafts! In this hour-long weekly program, we will read a story and then create a craft relating to that story. Some of the books we will read include Dragons Love Tacos, Where the Wild Things Are, and Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus.  Your child will get to take home their artistic creation.  Parents will attend the program with their child.

The Jacki Sorensen program is a nationally recognized dance and strength training method of exercise that is fun and challenging, with an element of dance geared to the non-dancer. Each class consists of warm-up, stretching, abdominal work, light-weight repetitions and then we dance! All levels are welcome.

The SoPo Scoop is an 8-week youth program where kids will learn how to create a magazine. From coming up with the content, concept, and the different ways to distribute. The goal of this program is to provide kids with all the necessary creative tools to create a magazine and to teach them the importance of community outreach.This program will take place at the SoPo community center. Shall the need arise, the program would take place via zoom!

Do you like to knit, sew, crochet or create masterpieces? Please bring whatever you are working on and join fellow crafters/knitters/sewers/crocheters/beaders (anything will do!) as we chat and share our ideas, tips and projects with each other.  Stay for the entire time or come and go anytime you please! Oula with Cholla Oula is a dance fitness format that uses easy to learn dance moves and recognizable music to help you gain confidence, process emotions, AND get a workout.  If you are looking for something fun to add into your weekly routine come and dance with us!  No prior experience necessary, coordination not required. Bring:  clothes you feel comfortable getting sweaty in, sneakers, water and an open mind! About the Instructor:  Hi, I’m Cholla (Choy-a).  I have been practicing Oula for 4 years in Portland and honestly, it’s still the best part of my week, every week.  I believe that dance is for everyBODY and that movement can be medicine.  I’m a mom of 2 and I spend lots of time kitchen dancing and singing poorly throughout the house.  My commitment to you as an instructor is 2-fold: (1) I will always hold the space for you to have your best experience. We will then embark on a self-guided tour through the carriage & sleigh museum (unheated).  Following our self-guided tour, we will put on our snowshoes and snowshoe through the fields and woods. Following we will have time for some hot cocoa and cookies.

This class will be broken up into 2 styles of dance, hip hop and acrobatics. Dancers will begin with hip hop, a warm up for the body and explore different hip hop concepts, styles and movement. Students will also be taught hip hop choreography.  During the second half of class, dancers will learn acrobatics skills, such as mat exercises, balance and strengthening skills, and basic tumbling, all taught by a certified instructor. Feel like you need another step while playing pickleball or tennis? Looking for a little more power in your tennis or racket ball strokes? Does waking up mean aching all over after playing your favorite racket or paddle sport? Coach Dave Cousins will take you through a new style of workout that combines footwork drills for agility and increased speed, yoga positions for balance and core strength, and light strength training for more power. This class will be broken up into 2 styles of dance, hip hop and acrobatics. Dancers will begin with hip hop, a warm up for the body and explore different hip hop concepts, styles and movement. Students will also be taught hip hop choreography.  During the second half of class, dancers will learn acrobatics skills, such as mat exercises, balance and strengthening skills, and basic tumbling, all taught by a certified instructor. This class will be broken up into 2 styles of dance, hip hop and acrobatics. Dancers will begin with hip hop, a warm up for the body and explore different hip hop concepts, styles and movement. Students will also be taught hip hop choreography.  During the second half of class, dancers will learn acrobatics skills, such as mat exercises, balance and strengthening skills, and basic tumbling, all taught by a certified instructor.
