Mix it up! is a co-ed group strength training class utilizing various methods of training as well as a variety of exercises and equipment. The class is designed for all ages and all fitness levels. On Tuesdays, we kick up the intensity a little bit and incorporate interval training. Thursday’s focus is on total body strength training. Mix it Up! is easy to follow and will make you sweat.  (Maximum of 25) Please note this adult class will only allow a 10% Senior Discount.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Vaughan Woods & Historic Homestead of Hallowell is a non-profit nature preserve and non-traditional house museum that seeks to connect people to place through nature, history and the arts. We will have a docent led tour of the homestead, followed by a picnic lunch (bring your own) and then have free time to walk the trails/gardens. This trip involves a good amount of walking.

Beginner Soft Pastel: Fun ScenesThis five class series will teach beginner pastelists how to draw and paint people in landscapes including people at the beach, people walking on paths, at the market, an on city streets. Beginner Soft Pastel: The SkyThis five class series will teach beginner pastelists how to draw and paint the sky with a focus on fun!  No experience needed.  We will be learning about value, composition, and color while enjoying the beauty of painting sunrises, sunsets, foggy sky and other beautiful skylines.  Beginner Soft Pastel: Birds:  This five class series will teach beginner pastelists how to create realistic and interesting bird portraits using soft pastel, graphite, and charcoal.  We trace printed photos of birds, which eliminates the need of drawing skills in the class.Beginner Soft Pastel: The Winter in Soft PastelThis five class series will teach beginner pastelists how to draw and paint winter landscapes.  In addition, students will learn how to use pastels to achieve both a sketch and finished painting look.  All classes will include step-by-step instructions. No experience needed.  Supplies are included in class. Instructor: Joan Quinn

Chemistry Creations- Become a chemist and a creator as you discover hands-on science fun! You will explore the worlds of Chemistry and Science while creating fun things to take home. Learn about matter, chemicals, and reactions; watch demonstrations and create your own experiments; and use the Scientific Method to make some science fun! Take home your chemistry creations daily and wrap up the workshop by making ice cream using science.Space Robot: Mission To Mars-Let imagination take flight with this innovative, solar-powered workshop that explores Mars, our Solar System, and space travel! Mission Specialists use their very own Solar Space Fleet kit to create six different moving models that use three different interchangeable energy sources: solar energy, rechargeable battery, or battery pack. View 3-D images of the surface of Mars, make your own Rover, and fly a demo of the Ingenuity helicopter! The Space Fleet kit goes home with you at the end. Wonderful Wizardry of Science-Join in the escapades of your favorite magical characters while discovering the magic of science in this fun, chemistry-based workshop. Make edible wands, brew fantastic potions, and create amazingly “magical” chemical reactions! We will watch a mirage mysteriously appear, experiment with color andlight, and see who knows the most “fun facts” about Harry and his pals. Where will the sorting hat place you? Come and find out! This workshop is perfect for anyone who loves books and movies like the Harry Potter series. 13-in-1 Solar Robot-In this workshop we explore the basics of robotics, electricity, and solar energy using your very own 13-in-1 solar robot kit to take home at the end of the week. Learn how to build a gear, use a basic motor, and create robots with different forms and functions. Use our free build and robotics kits to create your own designs. Come join us for some robot fun! Slimescapades-Get ready to get slimy with this super slime-tastic chemistry workshop! Make a new slime every day, do experiments to create polymers and other materials, and have a blast with chemical reactions. Come join the messy, slimy side of science fun!Mega Cyborg Hand- Learn about engineering, robotics, and the power of water and pressure by building your own working giant hydraulic cyborg hand. Each day builds on the prior day's work, using the Engineering Design Process to create a wearable hydraulic hand and become a temporary cyborg! Dino Dig & Fossil Hunt- Explore Archeology, Paleontology, and Geology while excavating your own simulated bones of a model dinosaur! Assemble the fossil from your “dig” to complete a 3-dimensional model of a dinosaur to take home. See, hold, and identify items from our rock and mineral collections, collect and identify 20-million-year-old shark teeth and other fossils, and design your very own dinosaur based on what we observe from our exploration. Arcade Electronics & Game-atorium-  Do you like games? How about working with electronics, cards, and dice to make and play your own games? Then this workshop is for you! Work with electronics kits to build fun electronic games. Learn to program circuits to test your memory, display sayings, and make different sounds. This workshop presents six simple machines: lever, wedge, wheel and axle, pulley, inclined plane, and screw. Mix it up! is a co-ed group strength training class utilizing various methods of training as well as a variety of exercises and equipment. The class is designed for all ages and all fitness levels. On Tuesdays, we kick up the intensity a little bit and incorporate interval training. Thursday’s focus is on total body strength training. Mix it Up! is easy to follow and will make you sweat.  (Maximum of 25) Please note this adult class will only allow a 10% Senior Discount.

Mix it up! is a co-ed group strength training class utilizing various methods of training as well as a variety of exercises and equipment. The class is designed for all ages and all fitness levels. On Tuesdays, we kick up the intensity a little bit and incorporate interval training. Thursday’s focus is on total body strength training. Mr. Reagan’s Theater Camp is a great way to develop and hone theater skills. Actors will learn a variety of skills such as: voice projection, improv and animation. Campers will build confidence and teamwork by creating skits, games and plays.Camp runs from August 5-9th from 9:00-12:30 at South Portland Community Center. A performance for family and friends will be on Friday at 12:00. The cost for the camp is $225 for ages 7-11. Min 10, Max 25. Patrick Reagan is a fifth grade teacher in Scarborough. He has been doing theater in the classroom for the past twenty-two years and has run theater camps in the area for over ten years.  I am excited to do theater in South Portland again this summer!

Mr. Reagan’s Theater Camp is a great way to develop and hone theater skills. Actors will learn a variety of skills such as: voice projection, improv and animation. Campers will build confidence and teamwork by creating skits, games and plays.Camp runs from August 5-9th from 9:00-12:30 at South Portland Community Center. A performance for family and friends will be on Friday at 12:00. The cost for the camp is $225 for ages 7-11. Min 10, Max 25. Patrick Reagan is a fifth grade teacher in Scarborough. He has been doing theater in the classroom for the past twenty-two years and has run theater camps in the area for over ten years.  I am excited to do theater in South Portland again this summer!

Mr. Reagan’s Theater Camp is a great way to develop and hone theater skills. Actors will learn a variety of skills such as: voice projection, improv and animation. Campers will build confidence and teamwork by creating skits, games and plays.Camp runs from August 5-9th from 9:00-12:30 at South Portland Community Center. A performance for family and friends will be on Friday at 12:00. The cost for the camp is $225 for ages 7-11. Min 10, Max 25. Patrick Reagan is a fifth grade teacher in Scarborough. He has been doing theater in the classroom for the past twenty-two years and has run theater camps in the area for over ten years.  I am excited to do theater in South Portland again this summer!

The awe of Maine awaits you on these wonderful trails and paths.

Mix it up! is a co-ed group strength training class utilizing various methods of training as well as a variety of exercises and equipment. The class is designed for all ages and all fitness levels. On Tuesdays, we kick up the intensity a little bit and incorporate interval training. Thursday’s focus is on total body strength training. Mix it Up! is easy to follow and will make you sweat.  (Maximum of 25) Please note this adult class will only allow a 10% Senior Discount.

Rube Goldberg Machine-A Rube Goldberg Machine is a series of chain reactions that make a simple task difficult and often humorous. This workshop presents six simple machines: lever, wedge, wheel and axle, pulley, inclined plane, and screw. Mr. Reagan’s Theater Camp is a great way to develop and hone theater skills. Actors will learn a variety of skills such as: voice projection, improv and animation. Campers will build confidence and teamwork by creating skits, games and plays.Camp runs from August 5-9th from 9:00-12:30 at South Portland Community Center. A performance for family and friends will be on Friday at 12:00. The cost for the camp is $225 for ages 7-11. Min 10, Max 25. Patrick Reagan is a fifth grade teacher in Scarborough. He has been doing theater in the classroom for the past twenty-two years and has run theater camps in the area for over ten years.  I am excited to do theater in South Portland again this summer!

Drop in to the Senior Drop In Center on Tuesday afternoons or Friday mornings to play Mah Jongg.  You may bring your own Mah Jongg set or we have a few available.  PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN CARD – WE DO NOT PROVIDE CARDS.

Beginner Soft Pastel: Fun ScenesThis five class series will teach beginner pastelists how to draw and paint people in landscapes including people at the beach, people walking on paths, at the market, an on city streets. Beginner Soft Pastel: The SkyThis five class series will teach beginner pastelists how to draw and paint the sky with a focus on fun!  No experience needed.  We will be learning about value, composition, and color while enjoying the beauty of painting sunrises, sunsets, foggy sky and other beautiful skylines.  Beginner Soft Pastel: Birds:  This five class series will teach beginner pastelists how to create realistic and interesting bird portraits using soft pastel, graphite, and charcoal.  We trace printed photos of birds, which eliminates the need of drawing skills in the class.Beginner Soft Pastel: The Winter in Soft PastelThis five class series will teach beginner pastelists how to draw and paint winter landscapes.  In addition, students will learn how to use pastels to achieve both a sketch and finished painting look.  All classes will include step-by-step instructions. No experience needed.  Supplies are included in class. Instructor: Joan Quinn
